Passage: The
Mystery of the Missing Mangoes! 🥭🕵️♀️
In the heart of a
small village in Thailand, nestled beside a winding river, stood a grand old
mango tree. This wasn't just any mango tree; its fruit was known throughout the
region for being the sweetest and juiciest mangoes anyone had ever tasted. Every
year, when the mangoes turned a perfect golden-yellow, the villagers would
gather for the Mango Festival, a time of joy, music, and, of course, eating
delicious mangoes.
This year, however, something strange was happening. The mangoes were ripening beautifully, but each morning, some of the best ones were missing from the lowest branches. It wasn't just one or two; sometimes, half the ripe mangoes would be gone overnight! The villagers were puzzled and a little worried. Who would take their precious mangoes? Was it a person, or perhaps an animal? 🤔
A young girl named Lina, known for her sharp eyes and curious mind, decided to solve the mystery. She loved the mangoes and wanted the festival to be perfect. That evening, instead of going to bed early, Lina quietly climbed into the lowest branches of the mango tree, hiding among the big green leaves. She decided to watch and wait. It was a little dark and spooky in the tree, but Lina was brave. 💪
She waited for a long time. The moon rose high in the sky, casting silver light on the village. Lina was starting to feel sleepy when she heard a rustling sound above her. She looked up slowly and saw a pair of bright, curious eyes looking down! It wasn't a person. It was a family of monkeys! 🐒🐒🐒
A mother monkey, a father monkey, and two baby monkeys were carefully picking the ripe mangoes. They weren't being greedy; they were just taking enough to eat. Lina watched them for a while. They seemed happy and gentle. She realised they weren't stealing; they were just hungry and the mangoes were easy to reach.
Lina climbed down from the tree quietly. The next morning, she told the village elders what she had seen. The elders listened and smiled. They understood. The forest was the monkeys' home too, and they needed food.
Instead of being
angry, the villagers decided to share. They left some of the lowest branches of
the mango tree for the monkeys. They also decided to put some extra fruit, not
just mangoes, in a basket near the edge of the forest for the monkeys to find.
When the Mango
Festival finally arrived, there were still plenty of delicious mangoes for
everyone to enjoy. And sometimes, from the edge of the forest, the villagers
could see the monkey family enjoying their share too. The mystery was solved,
and the village learned a valuable lesson about sharing and living with nature.
