1. Review Study Guide
Introduction
●
Welcome! Today we'll
review everything amazing we learned about Living Things, Plants, Roots, Stems,
Leaves, Flowers, and Fruits!
●
Remember Noi the
explorer and Pho the elephant? We're going on a review adventure!
Topic 1: Living Things Around Us (สิ่งมีชีวิตรอบตัวเรา)
●
Recall: What makes something
"living"? (Needs food/water, grows, reproduces).
●
Activity: Quick sort - Show
pictures (or names) of a rock, a bird (นก), a mushroom (เห็ด), a bicycle. Ask: Living or Non-living? Why?
●
Three Kingdoms: Briefly remind of
Plants (make food), Animals (eat food, move), Others (decomposers like
mushrooms). Ask: Can you name one Thai
example for each?
●
Animal Groups: Focus on Vertebrates
(มีกระดูกสันหลัง)
vs. Invertebrates (ไม่มีกระดูกสันหลัง). Ask: What's the big difference? (Backbone!)
●
Quick Quiz: Name the 5 vertebrate
groups. Show pictures/icons as prompts.
(Fish, Amphibian, Reptile, Bird, Mammal). Ask: What group does a ช้าง belong to? A กบ? A นกเงือก?
Topic 2: Flowering Plants - The Big Picture (พืชดอก - ภาพรวม)
●
Recall: What are the main
parts of a flowering plant we learned about? Prompt: Think from bottom to top! (Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flower,
Fruit, Seed).
●
Connect: Each part has a
special job to help the plant live and grow!
Topic 3: Amazing Roots! (รากมหัศจรรย์)
●
Main Jobs: What are the main things roots do? (Anchor, Absorb
water/minerals). Show a picture of a
plant being pulled – roots hold it! Show water going into soil.
●
Activity: Root Type Match-Up!
○
Show pictures/simple
drawings of: Carrot (แครอท), Rice plant roots (รากข้าว), Orchid roots (รากกล้วยไม้), Mangrove roots (รากโกงกาง).
○
Ask: Which one is a Storage Root (stores food)? Which is Fibrous (like a net)? Which is Aerial (in the air)? Which is a Prop Root (for support)? Briefly
explain why for each.
○
Mention Taproot (รากแก้ว) vs. Fibrous (รากฝอย) as the two main systems.
Topic 4: Super Stems! (ลำต้นสุดยอด!)
●
Main Jobs: What are the stem's
two big jobs? (Support, Transport). Hold
up a flower – the stem supports it!
●
Transport: Remember the
"highway"? What travels UP (Water - Xylem)? What travels DOWN/AROUND
(Food - Phloem)? Use hand gestures: Up
for Xylem, Down/Around for Phloem.
●
Activity: Stem Type Spotting!
○
Show pictures of: A
tall Teak tree (ต้นสัก), an Ixora bush (ต้นเข็ม), a Marigold plant (ต้นดาวเรือง).
○
Ask: Which is a Tree
(ไม้ต้น)? A Shrub (ไม้พุ่ม)? An Herb (ไม้ล้มลุก)? Discuss: What's the
difference? (Woody vs. soft, single trunk vs. many stems).
Topic 5: Lovely Leaves! (ใบไม้สวยจัง!)
●
Main Job: What super important
process happens in leaves? (Photosynthesis - making food!). What does it need? (Sunlight, Water,
Air/CO2).
●
Breathing: How do leaves
"breathe"? (Stomata/ปากใบ). What gas do they take in? (CO2). What gas do they release
(important for us!)? (O2).
●
Activity: Look at a real leaf
(if possible) or a clear picture. Point out the Blade (แผ่นใบ) and Veins (เส้นใบ). Ask: What travels in
the veins? (Water and food!).
Topic 6: Fantastic Flowers & Pollination! (ดอกไม้น่าทึ่ง & การผสมเกสร!)
●
Main Job: Why are flowers
important? (Reproduction - making seeds!).
●
Attracting Help: How do they get
help? (Bright petals/กลีบดอก, nice smells attract pollinators like bees/ผึ้ง).
●
Parts: Briefly point out
male (Stamen/เกสรเพศผู้
- makes pollen) and female (Carpel/Pistil/เกสรเพศเมีย - receives pollen, has ovary/รังไข่). Use a large flower diagram.
●
Pollination: What is it? (Pollen
moving from anther to stigma). Show
simple diagram of bee transferring pollen. Briefly mention self vs. cross.
Topic 7: Fruity Fun & Super Seeds! (ผลไม้สนุก & เมล็ดสุดยอด!)
●
Connection: Where does the fruit
come from? (The flower's ovary/รังไข่!).
●
Jobs: What does the fruit
do? (Protect seeds, Help seeds travel/Dispersal).
●
Activity: Seed Travel Agents!
How do seeds travel? Ask for examples. (Animals eat fruit - poop seeds! Wind blows light seeds! Water
carries floating fruits like coconuts/มะพร้าว!).
Topic 8: Experiment Recap (ทบทวนการทดลอง)
●
Quickly remind of the
celery experiment. What did it show us? (Water travels UP the stem in the
XYLEM).
